How to Get an OpenAI API Key (Super Simple)

You only need to do this once. After that, you paste the key into Koshsi and you’re ready. This guide is written to be simple and calm — no technical knowledge needed.

Quick summary: Create OpenAI account → Create API key → Copy → Paste into Koshsi.

Step-by-step (follow in order)

Take it slowly. If you make a mistake, you can simply go back and try again.

  1. Open the OpenAI platform website
    Easy

In your browser, go to the OpenAi Platform (the place where API keys are managed). If you’re unsure, Google: OpenAI platform API keys

  2. Sign in (or create an account)
    1–3 minutes

If you already have an OpenAI account, sign in. If you don’t, click Create account and follow the prompts.

  3. Open “API keys”
    Click once

Find API keys in the dashboard and open it.

Tip: Click the image to enlarge.
  4. Click “Create new secret key”
    Important

Click Create new secret key. A key will appear (it often starts with sk-).

Tip: Click the image to enlarge.
  5. Copy the key and keep it safe
    Do not share

Copy the key exactly as it appears. Save it somewhere private for a moment, because you may not be able to see it again later.

    Example format (NOT real): sk-************************************

Tip: Click the image to enlarge. (Never share your real key.)
  6. Paste the key into Koshsi
    One time

Go back to the Koshsi Football Predictor. Click the API Key button, paste your key, and click Save. The button should turn green when your key is set.

  7. Run a test prediction
    You’re done

Pick a match and click Predict. If you get results, everything is working. If it doesn’t work, re-copy your key (no missing characters, no extra spaces).

Important safety tip Your API key is like a password. Do not email it, do not post it online, and don’t share it with anyone. If you think someone has seen it, go back to OpenAI and delete/revoke that key, then create a new one.

Note: You pay OpenAI directly for your own usage. Koshsi does not mark up your OpenAI usage.

Troubleshooting (very simple)

If something goes wrong, it’s usually one of these:

I pasted the key but it says “invalid”
Usually it’s a copy/paste issue. Copy again carefully. Make sure there are no missing characters and no extra spaces at the start or end.
The API Key button is still red
Click the API Key button again, paste the key, and press Save. If you are using a private/incognito window, your browser may not remember it next time.
I’m worried about costs
That’s normal. The good part is: you control your usage. If you stop using the tool, you stop using tokens. You can revoke your key anytime in your OpenAI account.
I don’t see “API keys” on the OpenAI website
The OpenAI dashboard can change. The easiest method is to Google: OpenAI platform API keys and open the official OpenAI result.
